How to make/earn money by blogging?

- Part 1

I have faced questions from many bloggers in forums about how to make a blog successful or many bloggers have doubt of "can one really make money by blogging and how to do that?"

So I intend to start a series about blogging. You can call it blogging lesson. I am not going to say here that after reading this post, you are gonna make 100´s or 1000´s of U.S. dollars by blogging. But I can guarantee that one can make at least 50-100$ per month after a month of blogging.

What is blog?

Wikipedia defines blog as "A blog is a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order".

A blog can be about anything. It can be a simple collection personal photos to reviewing about technical products.

How to start a blog?

Before starting a blog, first decide about the subject in which your blog contents will be. The most difficult thing for a blogger is getting or writing contents for his/her blog.

My suggestions would be, "Choose a topic in which you are really familiar with". Either you can be working on that field or you can have tremendous interest on that field.

If your blogs content is gonna be about something you are really familiar with, blogging is going to be easy for you.

There are many free blog providers. But the most famous free blog providers are "blogger" and "wordpress".

Blogger is the best choice for the beginners. One can consider changing to wordpress after few months of blogging. Because, blogger provides the best interface for beginners and to change your template or edit your template, one doesn't need to pay anything. But with free wordpress one cant edit their html.

Once you get familiar with blogging, you should think of moving your contents to wordpress ( I do not mean wordpress free account here). Because the paid service in wordpress provides many facilities, plug ins.

So, blogger is the best choice for a beginner and I assume that you want to start your blog in blogger.

Once you have decided to start a blog in blogger, visit the web page of blogger and create a blog. One needs google account to start a blog in blogger. Starting a google account is quite simple one. I assume that these things are easy for you and so skipping these things.

So, now you have created a blog in blogger and you can also write your first post.

What should I do now?

1. Start writing more posts. Write at least 15 posts before trying to bring traffic.

2. Keep in mind to give good title to each of your post. Because search engine spiders normally give more importance to post titles.

3. After writing at least 15 posts, try to get inbound links from other related blogs. Do link exchanges only with the blogs that are closely related to your blog content.

4. Try to develop interior linking of your posts. Interior linking means, linking one post from another post from your blog. But don't overdo it.

5. Also when it is necessary, give some useful outgoing links.

6. Submit your blog to Google at http://www.google.com/addurl.html.

7. Submit your site to relevant directories such as the Open Directory Project and Yahoo!, as well as to other industry-specific expert sites.

What about monetizing or tell us how to get money from our blog?

Start an account in google´s adsense and submit your blog for reviewing. Google normally take 1-2 days for reviewing your blog. Read more about adsense basics.

Once your blog is accepted, start pasting adsense ad code in your blog.

But I would advice bloggers to paste adsense ad code after having enough content (10-15 posts) and also after the blog starts to get at least 30-40 visitors per day.
